Choice Tales from the Vale – (346) The Christmas Trip (Part 1)

Mira Cooke, was the best friend of Clarissa St Claire, and both girls had perfect Carrington Chase educated voices, Carrington Chase being Downshire’s version of Roedean, although those in Downshire thought it was the other way around, and it was a voice that made Charlotte Green sound common.

They had been friends since Montessori and were in the same halls together at Abbottsford University and were going share a flat together during their second and third years.

But apart from the fact that they came from wealthy families and were well educated, to the casual observer they didn’t appear to have anything else in common.

Clarissa was beautiful, with thick curly ginger hair, elegant, slim and petit, bubbly and outgoing, and dressed to turn heads, whereas Mira was not beautiful, though she was not unattractive to look at, she was also not bubbly or outgoing and always wore black, she even had her brunette hair dyed black.

she was taller than Clarissa, and slender with nice long legs, though few people saw them as she normally wore long skirts, or loose fitting trousers, but where her friend was busty, Mira was less well endowed, though she was not flat chested.

Clarissa was an extrovert, precocious, a real Lolita, confident, self-assured, pretty and she knew it, though not in a cocky way.

Mira was a shy, socially awkward bookish girl who appeared to lack self-confidence

Being with Clarissa made her feel more confident, daring to do things she would never do alone, and she had lived her life on her friends coat tails and it was thought that without Clarissa she would flounder, but they were wrong.

Although they were both bright intelligent girls there was more to life for Clarissa, but Mira was not a party girl and she was best described as bookish as she had the habit of peering over her specs.

One other way in which they differed was sex, Clarissa had been obsessed with sex since the moment she hit puberty, not that she was sexually active, other than the usual masturbation, but she obsessed over losing her virginity, not the when, but the who.

She set her cap at Alex Monroe when she was a very young girl and not long after her 18th birthday, she got him.

However, Mira had gone through puberty with absolutely no interest in sex, she was much more in tune with the romantic characters in the literature she read.

That was at least until Clarissa started telling her in graphic detail about Alex and what he did to her and what he had her do to him and all of a sudden all the repressed feelings came to the fore, and she couldn’t stop abusing herself, and she had amassed a sordid selection of sex toys to deal with her urges and although she hadn’t had a man inside her she’d had a lot of substitutes over the three months since she started wetting her knickers.

But even though she had awakened sexually she still didn’t envisage progressing onto the real thing, not with the people within her social circle at any rate as they didn’t measure up against the romantic heroes in her books.

However, that all changed on the day she met Colin Monroe, but it was the second time that had the greatest impact on them.

All in all Colin was only going to be in the UK for a month or so and he planned to make full use of his time in Downshire, the reunion with his brothers, catching up with friends and of course the University business, what he had not returned to Dulcet on Willow for, was to meet someone he was attracted to when he was only going to be in the country for a few weeks, but it happened anyway.

However he decided to dismiss it from his mind and concentrate on the reason he was there in the first place, and all was going well until two days after their first meeting when he and Alex were in Abbottsford in the Labuschagne Coffee House, when the girls suddenly walked in, a meeting clearly engineered by his brother and his girlfriend.

The girls didn’t stay long as they had lectures to get to, but it was long enough for them to make a deeper impression on each other.

At the time, when they were sat in the Coffee shop chatting, he really enjoyed being with her, and didn’t think about the consequences, it was only after they had gone that it sank in.

Mira had no such concerns, she had already taken into account that she might not see him again after December, but she was prepared to take that risk.

So, she decided that she would act at Halloween, and she hit the bullseye.

In the month and a half since Mira Cooke surrendered her virginity to him on Halloween

Colin Monroe had seen a lot of her.

His University had sent him to the UK to examine and verify the authenticity of some 18th Century manuscripts that the University wanted for their library, but he had spent a disproportionate amount of time examining every inch of Mira.

In the beginning Colin truly liked her, but he didn’t want to lead her on, as he would be back in Adelaide by Christmas, and she was only 18 and he was 26.

However, she more than liked him, and because he was going back to Australia before Christmas, she made the decision that she would make the most of every minute, which was why she propositioned him.

But following that Halloween seduction, if he wasn’t with her, he was thinking about her, which was why he asked her to spend Christmas and New Year with him in Australia.

Mira had planned to take a gap year with her best friend Clarissa, but then they decided to start Uni straight away and travel after they had graduated, but she was all loved up with Colin’s brother Alex, so she doubted that would happen, so she jumped at the chance, but what he wasn’t aware of was that even if none of that were true she would still have accepted, because she was in love with him.

But she was reluctant to tell him, in case she scared him away, but she let it slip out after a moment of passion but then she heard him say

“I love you too”

They had been at Mira’s home in Dulcet Meadow because Colin had asked her to spend Christmas and New Year in Adelaide with him, and Mira accepted, but that didn’t mean it was a done deal by any means, which was why they were there, for the small matter of convincing her parents, which they did with ease.

Two weeks later, on Friday morning, Alex was up early, and after showering and shaving he threw his bags into the car and was heading back to Dulcet Meadow to collect Mira and her luggage for the flight to Australia.

The Cooke’s had already left, as they had decided as their daughter would be on the other side of the world until the New Year, that they would head for sunnier climes for the Holidays themselves.
