Celia Waddington
joined the firm in Shallowfield straight out of University and knocked him off
his feet the moment she walked into the office and as the old man of the team
at 33 he adopted the role of the avuncular and took her under his wing and
showed her the ropes and of course try as he might not to, and despite the 12
year age difference Kevin Appleby fell in love with
her.
Three months had
passed since Celia Waddington and Kevin Appleby had reconciled in the Shallowfield
Lodge Hotel and made love in his room for two days.
Two long sensual days
when they reacquainted themselves with every inch of each other’s bodies until
they had nothing left to give.
But then they talked
and talked and Kevin said that they should not see each other again for three
months.
He still wanted her
and still wanted to marry her but he wanted her to be 100 percent sure that she
wanted him in the same way.
If she was not sure he
didn’t think they could be together.
Not that he didn’t
think she loved him or enjoyed being with him, and he knew without a doubt that
she enjoyed making love with him.
“I love you so much”
he said as they lay entwined beneath the duvet “I just have to know for sure
that you love me enough”
He just wasn’t sure
that Celia could give herself over to him, heart, soul and life to, a man 12
years older than herself.
Neither of them were
happy about the prospect of another three months of separation but he had no
words to convince a 29 year old woman to give her life to a man the wrong side
of 40 and nor would he have wished to use them if they were in his possession.
Equally Celia didn’t
have the words to convince him of her love but she could not have assured him
of her resolve because she wasn’t able to convince herself.
“I do love you Kevin
but I agree” she said “I do have to be certain sure”
It was heart-breaking
to watch her drive away but he knew he had done the right thing and it was only
three months he had endured two years and survived intact but it would be worth
every minute just to hear his declaration of love returned in word and
delicious deed.
It had been pretty
much love at first sight for him, but then she was a beautiful sight to behold.
For her it was a more
gradual falling and one that began with her lustful consumption of him in an
executive bathroom, but fall she did despite fighting against it tooth and
claw.
Even before their
serendipitous meeting at the hotel, Celia had agreed to take a three month
secondment in Shallowfield where she could be close to her sister and the
twins, so that fitted in well and would give her the time to think and in that
time she would either get over him or know for certain sure he was the one.
Though if after three
months Celia did resolve that she didn’t love him enough to live her life with
him and it was definitely over she would at least have the memory of that final
wonderful weekend to sustain her forever.
Kevin would have liked
to have exchanged the occasional text or email with her but he had asked Celia
for a total separation, which he soon regretted.
All he could do was
throw himself into his work totally and fill his every waking moment with
thoughts of anything and everything that wasn’t Celia Waddington.
Impossible of course
but if in the unlikely event that he could exclude her from his thoughts he
couldn’t stop her invading his dreams.
It was the day before
Christmas Eve when the three months were up and he got the long awaited phone
call, he took a deep breath and hit the button.
“Hello, Kevin Appleby”
he said
“Hey Kevin” she said
“Celia?” he asked “God
it’s good to hear your voice”
“Ditto” Celia replied
“Where are you?”
“I’m in London” he
replied “Are you still in Shallowfield?”
“No I’m back home” she
replied “When are you back?”
“Tonight” he replied
“Can we meet?” Celia
asked
“Yes” he said “Have
you made a decision?”
“Yes I have” she
replied
“And?” he enquired
trying to keep the anxiety out of his voice
“I don’t want to say
on the phone” she answered “I want to do it face to face”
“Ok” he said not
knowing if that was good or bad
“Come to the house
tonight” he said
“What time?” she asked
“Around seven” he
replied “Let yourself in if I’m late, you know where the key is”
“Ok, I’ll see you
tonight then Kevin” she said
“Ok, bye”
The journey out of
London was an absolute nightmare and consequently he was seriously late and it
was nearly 8 o’clock when he drove onto the drive.
Since her phone call
Kevin’s stomach had been in absolute knots and arriving home late didn’t
untangle it in the least.
The lights were on in
the house so Celia had let herself in he only hoped she was still there and
hadn’t got tired of waiting.
As he sat in the
pre-Christmas traffic he tried to ring Celia to warn her of his delay but his
phone died.
So he sat on the drive
trying to summon up the courage to go in, he was so desperate to know her
answer but equally terrified of what it might be, yes or no.
“Yes” meaning she was sure
and she would give all of herself to him unreservedly and become his wife.
Or “No” and they would
never be together.
On the journey home he
reran the earlier conversation in his head and tried to read between the lines
to find some hidden meaning or some indication as to what her decision
was.
He slowly opened the
back door and stepped in.
“Hi Celia” he called
“I’m sorry I’m late, the traffic was hell”
No answer, she must
have got fed up of waiting after all.
“Shit” he exclaimed
and took off his coat but as he was about to hang it on the peg in the utility
he noticed an unfamiliar coat already hanging there.
“She is here” he said,
“but where? Where was she exactly?
He hung his coat and
walked into the open planned lounge and that’s when he knew.
He knew because he saw
a black stockings hanging from the mantel anchored beneath a Christmas candle
so he knew where to find her.
He glanced towards the
door to the hall and noticed a second black stocking wrapped around the handle,
he smiled and opened it and stepped into the hall.
He could see a grey
wool dress draped untidily over the downstairs bannister post, so he proceeded
upstairs and
on the top one was a
black lace bra and on hanging on his bedroom door handle were the matching
panties.
Kevin opened the
bedroom door and walked in and he found Celia laying naked on his bed in a
provocative pose with her wondrous hairy bush on full display her finger busy
between her moist lips.
“You’re a bit
overdressed for an engagement party” she said casually fingering herself
“A what?” he said
hoping he hadn’t misheard
“I love you and I want
to marry you, now get your clothes off”
“Are you really sure?”
“100 percent” she
replied as he quickly stripped and joined her on the bed
“Because you were
late” she said with her fingers still stroking her crack “I had to start
without you”
“Sorry about that” he
said “but I’m sure I’ll catch up”
